Welcome to the Family Table

We are so glad to meet you! Here’s a brief description of why we created My Family Table and what you can expect to find here.

We’re all parents, and most of us have also been working through our churches to help other parents raise children according to God’s word. We believe that the Bible is God’s Word and therefore it is useful for exactly what the Bible says: teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). As Pastors and as Dads, we have a deep desire to help our children learn, grow and live in God’s Word in order to receive his blessings now and eternally.

Now and eternally. That’s big. That’s how important this is.

Many of us hear and learn God’s Word primarily at church. We attend worship services at church. We send our children to Sunday school and Confirmation classes at church. We naturally expect our children to learn God’s Word at church – and they do!

But our children don’t live at church. Home is where the heart is.

Home is the center of teaching our children to both learn and live as disciples of Jesus. A disciple is a follower. Since most of life takes place at home, that is where our children will learn to follow Jesus. They will learn as the family gathers around God’s Word. They will learn by watching how Mom and Dad live out their faith. They will learn as the family celebrates God’s blessings together, and as the family struggles through challenges together.

God gives parents the high privilege and responsibility of teaching their children to live as his children (Deuteronomy 6:4-9; Ephesians 6:4). While the church teaches God’s Word, parents help their children put it into practice in daily life. That’s where My Family Table comes in.

We want to help train and empower parents to teach your children to live as children of God. You will find a wealth of material to equip you.

  • The home page will set the stage as you Envision the Future, Embrace Your Influence and Establish Patterns.

  • The Table Talk blog will provide thought-provoking articles about strengthening your marriage, feeding your family and counteracting the worldly culture that threatens the spiritual lives of children.

  • On the Menu gives practical options to feed your family with God’s Word. You’ll find a variety of options so that you can choose what best fits your family. We even suggest some of our favorite resources created by others.

We want to partner with you, encourage you and help in any way we can while we all do our best to raise our children in the training and instruction of the Lord. Please use our Feedback Forum to ask questions or make suggestions. We’d love to hear from you!

God bless you and your family as you gather at your family table!
