IDEAS FOR FAMILY PRAYERS

Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind,

be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. – Ephesians 6:18

That's right! Pray on all occasions!

A special event is a great time to gather and say a prayer together. Perhaps you've heard the phrase, "The family that prays together stays together." Prayer is a powerful unifier. In a family, prayer focuses our thoughts around the One who graciously gives us all things and watches over our comings and goings. Prayer acknowledges that we are not in control, and we as a family trust in the One who is in control of all things "for the good of those who love Him (Romans 8:28).

Prayer is our communication with our Heavenly Father, who wants to hear from us!

Use the prayers below as examples of how to pray during special occasions. Then use the "Build a Prayer" worksheet as a family activity. Once you build this habit, you may soon find that your family builds and says prayers regularly and on every occasion. Blessed is the home where parents and children gather together in prayer!
